High Bun / Top Knot Styles

Top Knot or High bun hair styles can be very sleek and polished. They can also be messy and fun!

Here are just a few pics to get you inspired to try this growing trend. The greatest thing about the top knot is that, it's easy to do at home (you won't always need someone from SYNERGY to do this upstyle for you... unless you are wanting the very slick, sleek and polished look), it doesn't have to be perfect and can look messy, plus it get's your hair out of your face!

Wear this during the week when rushing around for meetings and work, at evening functions and weekend affairs.

An absolute favourite!

This fabulous product from Davines, is one of our favourites at SYNERGY! Dede delicate replenishing leave-in mist is a fluid conditioner that you spray onto your hair. Not only is is a great detangler, but it is a leave in conditioner that moisturises your hair making is feel soft and giving it a lovely shine when dry.

It has an innovative formula designed for fine hair with a tendency for heaviness, and is excellent as a pre-permanent wave or colour treatment as a porosity equalizer. Dede delicate replenishing leave-in mist has a twofold function: anti-free radical protective and repairing, as its acid pH perfectly seals the hair scales (making the hair soft and shiny but not heavy).

BEAUTIFUL AND EASY BRAIDED HAIR

10 Braided Syles to give your hair a little something extra.......

The Tie-Back. Using the pieces of hair in front of your ears, make a braid on each side and secure them together in the back. Fluffing the hair underneath is optional, but it’s a great way to look adorable and keep your hair down but out of the way.

The Downward Milkmaid. This is achieved by loosely French-braiding pigtails and crossing them across one another at the neckline. The braids can be easily held in place by hair clips.

The Over-The-Shoulder. Very easy! Grab all your hair over one shoulder and braid straight down. If some hair falls loose, it looks really organic and intentional.

The Inverted Braid. This is achieved by braiding the three sections of hair under one another instead of over. It makes an exposed braid whose grain travels in an inverted chevron, and it’s a cool twist on a normal French-braid.

The Fishtail. While you’re used to designating three sections for a braid, when you’re starting a fishtail you start with just two. Split the hair down the middle and take a tiny piece from the outside of the right section and cross it to the inside of the left. Now take a tiny section from the outside of the left and join it with the inside of the right. You don’t have to keep track of all the pieces, just let them blend into the two main locks of hair. You’ll start to see the fishtail braid emerge.

The Tuck. This tidy touch is achieved by tucking the tail of the braid under the main section and fastening it with hair clips. It makes for a self-contained braid that is very functional.

The Fringe-Braid. Lauren Conrad is the queen of this braided style, sometimes creating prominent braids, sometimes much smaller ones. But this braid serves a great purpose and it looks adorable.

The Free-Style. Placing a braid in an editorial way just gives you style points. Your hair already looks awesome? It’s clean and you’re just looking for a little something extra? Just throw one in any old place or use any combo of the aforementioned styles to create your own.

The Full Crown. Start behind one ear and French-braid all of my hair into a crown shape around your head. It is cool-looking and you don't have to worry about your hair getting in your way for the rest of the day.

The Traditional Milkmaid. It’s just two braided pigtails crossed atop the head. It’s elegant and effortless, and can be dressed up or down.

SYNERGY TIP OF THE WEEK: For Healthy Hair

Did you know… the right food helps boost your hair with some health? For healthy hair eat foods such as avocado, fish and leafy vegetables, which all contain vitamins that will nourish hair from the root, helping it to grow. Lots of vitamin B will really help to boost your hair’s strength. We always recommend a good vitamin supplement if you know your diet isn’t as good as it could be.

You have to trim it to grow it!

If you wait more than five weeks between trims, you'll get bigger split ends and wind up having to cut off more in the long run. About 0.5cm's is just enough to make your mane healthy. However we all know how much Wynand loves his scissors, so you are more than likely looking at 1-2cm's!! :) Between regular trims, keep your hair as strong as possible with a weekly deep conditioner or treatment. (Davines has a fantastic leave-in conditioning spray 'Delicate Replenishing Leave-in Mist' that we highly recommend.)

Some styling suggestions to keep you splitproof: Never use a plastic-bristle brush, which frays strands easily. Instead, use a wide-tooth comb when hair is wet and a natural-bristle brush when dry. If you blow-dry, use a low-heat setting. If you towel-dry, do it delicately — vigorous rubbing will ravage ends
